aKING joins forces with ‘Oppikoppi Productions’
aKING’s debut album “Dutch Courage” was released on 1 February 2008. The album was recorded at BSharp Studios in Boksburg and contains 11 original English rock tracks.
After bursting onto the South African scene in December with their first hit single ‘The Dance’ it was a given that aKING was going places. The first single “The Dance” is play-listed on 5fm Radio South Africa and has reached the no 1 chart position on the 5fm Hi 5 at 5 Chart, as well as the no 1 position on the following campus radio stations: Tuks fm, UJ fm, RMR, MFM and Kovsie fm. This was also immediately noticed by the long time friends and fans that form part of the Oppikoppi Productions crew. Even before anyone from the OK offices had a chance to see the band perform live there were talks amongst the two camps to work together and meetings were being scheduled.
It is thus with great pride that Oppikoppi Productions welcome aKING to their agency roster. Oppikoppi Productions will operate as exclusive agents for aKING, working closely with Brendan Sterley at Punkskelm management to not only make them one of the busiest and sought after artists in South Africa but to also break into the international market by conquering one bar at a time.
The second single “Safe as Houses” has been play listed on national student radio stations and has also been play listed on Jacaranda FM and is climbing up the charts country wide at a steady pace. Accompanied by a brilliant video made by Fly on the Wall productions this is sure to be the next big hit. The music video is currently on the MK Top 10 chart.
